I, Vidushi T S Sreelakshmi Kumar, Bharathanatya exponent, have been working in this prestigious institution for 19 years. Dance is a holistic exercise that builds one’s mind and body and students learn teamwork focus and improvisational skills. Adding dance in academics definitely makes students’ life better and creative. Students not only learn dance but also experience something that highlights their spirits.
I took pride in presenting the “Rajendra Darshana” life history of Sri Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji, the founder of J S S M V P and the history of Suttur. This enabled our students to learn and enjoy and know about our institution.
In the year 2014, my students and I had an opportunity to showcase our talent by performing the largest “Tharangam Dance” which was recorded in the “Limca Book of records” and “Guinness world record”.
Our school children also got the golden opportunity to perform in “Karnataka Vaibhava”- Music Dance and drama which depicts the patriotism, rich culture and tradition of our country. Thus as a dance teacher, I would like to state that by including dance as a part of our co-curricular activities in our school, students have discovered that learning is fun, interactive and interesting.
